Founded in 1999 by the Municipality of Lavarone in collaboration with the Tiroler Kaiserjäger-Bund of Innsbruck, the Belvedere-Gschwent Foundation aims to manage the fortress and its museum through a continuous enhancement of historical memory that serves to stimulate reflection, with a view to a culture of peace and eschewing all forms of rhetoric.

This international body is committed to promoting the identity of a historical site that should not be a mere provincial and national asset, but be the heritage of all and a witness to the folly of war, a necessary path to foster the building of a consciousness of European collaboration.
